Upgradable suits of armor (purchasable via vendors), skill points, cheats, and gold bolts have returned from previous games.Characters from the all new Ratchet and Clank: Nexus PS3 game. Weapons can be upgraded by normal use (automatically collecting nanomites from fallen enemies) and by using Raritanium (a rare mineral found in the universe). Ratchet levels up as he defeats enemies and gains more health points. In these sections, Clank must manipulate gravity and solve puzzles to get the Nether back to the portal in order to cause an “earthquake” and destroy the barrier blocking the duo’s way. In certain portions of the game, the player takes control of Clank in side scroller-esque trips though the Netherverse. Ratchet is aided in his movement by Clank using the Heli Pack to propel himself forward, or to hover safely to the ground. In the game, the player mainly controls Ratchet, using an array of weapons and gadgets familiar to the series, but also some newer ones as well.

Ratchet and Clank: Into the Nexus is a third person action shooter with puzzle elements.
